UEFA world cup qualifier: Costa Rica needed to win to qualify and they blew a 2-0 lead with USA tying it in stoppage time.The last minute goal by the US sends Costa Rica to a two game play off against Uruguay for the last chance to qualify to the South Africa soccer World Cup 2010.

Davies, a striker on the U.S. national team (and French club Sochaux) , suffered a lacerated bladder, and facial, elbow, and leg fractures after the SUV he was riding in crashed and split in two early Tuesday morning. Davies and the driver survived, but the other passenger, Ashley Roberta, was killed on scene. Davies was in D.C. with Team USA to play Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. His injuries are not life-threatening but he will not be able to play in the World Cup next year.
